FEC Railway delivers first shipment booked online

The Florida East Coast Railway delivered the first shipment ordered through its new EZ Buy web portal on behalf of freight broker Addison Transportation.    Addison Transportation was the first customer to utilize the Florida East Coast Railway’s new online price quote and booking tool for intermodal freight.
   The railroad said Addison, a freight broker, utilized the EZ Buy system to purchase and book a door-to-door shipment from Murfreesboro, Tenn., to Stuart, Fla., last month.
   EZ Buy offers access to dynamic price quotes, and the ability to negotiate the price and place an order in one transaction.
   “EZ Buy is very simple to use and allowed us to negotiate a fair price to have our freight quickly delivered from Tennessee to Florida,” Step Perfilev, director brokerage development for Addison Transportation, said in a news release. “We are very pleased with FECR’s on-time, safe delivery of our shipment and will employ EZ Buy in the near future.”
EZ Buy offers the purchase of various service options and lanes between the Southeast U.S. markets of Atlanta, Charlotte and Jacksonville, and the South Florida markets of Fort Pierce, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, by simply entering a pick-up and delivery zip code or city.
   The FECR introduced EZ Buy on March 1.
