Hapag-Lloyd, NYK to enter U.S./East Coast of South America

Hapag-Lloyd, NYK to enter U.S./East Coast of South America    Hapag-Lloyd Container Line and NYK Line are planning a space-sharing agreement in the trade between the U.S. East Coast and the East Coast of South America, as new market entrants.
   A proposed agreement filed with the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission would authorize the two carriers to operate a three-vessel service and share space in this trade.
   Neither carrier provides container services between the U.S. East Coast and the East Coast of South America, according to ComPair Data, the global liner shipping database. The start date of the service of Hapag-Lloyd and NYK is not known.
   “K” Line entered this trade in May.
