PTI has offered reefer tramping service for frozen fish in remote Alaska fisheries for more than 20 years, and has been transporting about 35,000 metric tons of fish from Alaska to Asia each year. Volume is expected to increase to 45,000 metric tons next year.
The company also runs port logistics operations in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, including, fishing vessel service, stevedoring and a cold storage. It has annual operating profit of $350,000 to $400,000 with revenue of $5 million to $6 million.
PTI will now be run by Reynir G'slason, Eimskip Americas’ chief executive officer. Alan Peterson, the former owner of PTI, will stay on as managing director.
Eimskip said the acquisition will strengthen its position in Alaska with further development of cold stores and modern logistics in Dutch Harbor and a China Hub tramper service to Europe and Asia. It also plans to connect Alaska and the U.S. Northwest to Eimskip’s worldwide freight forwarding, non-vessel-operating common carrier, cold storage and logistics network.
