Andersen will be replaced by Jakob Stausholm, currently chief of strategy and transformation in Maersk Line, who will handle both functions.
Maersk said Andersen, 45, is leaving the company after 20 years to “look for new challenges outside the group.”
The realignment of Maersk’s executive headquarters in Copenhagen will see the world’s biggest line organized into five divisions: trade and marketing; commercial; operations; strategy, finance, and transformation; and human resources.
Maersk said the key changes are the merger of the finance and strategy and transformation departments, a tighter operations department (with fewer execution and service tasks), a leaner trade and marketing department (with fewer layers), and the merger of customer- and sales-related offices in the commercial department.
Aside from Stausholm’s expanded role, Vincent Clerc heads trade and marketing, Lucas Vos leads commercial, Morten Englestoft oversees operations, and Bill Allen heads human resources.
The reorganization includes Maersk laying off 400 employees, including 250 in Copenhagen, as reported earlier this month. – Eric Johnson
