DHL expands parcel network to Austria

DHL’s new European parcel division said the move is designed to respond to demand for e-commerce deliveries.    DHL’s new European parcel division plans to expand service to Austria by 2016, the company said Tuesday.
   DHL Parcel already operates in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Benelux countries.
   The company said it plans to invest more than 100 million euros in infrastructure as well as parcel stores and “Packstations” for receiving e-commerce packages. Additional delivery options that give customers more choices on how to receive their orders are forthcoming in the future, said DHL.
   The express carrier added that the goal is to have as many parcels delivered on the first attempt as possible. A further benefit of the expansion will be a reduction in delivery times to one day from Germany to Austria.
