Port of Vancouver, Wash. unveils Terminal 1 redevelopment plans

The Washington state port has submitted a Concept Development Plan application to the City of Vancouver for the redevelopment of its Terminal 1 facility on the Columbia River.    The Port of Vancouver in Washington state has submitted a Concept Development Plan (CDP) application to the City of Vancouver for the redevelopment of a former marine cargo terminal, according to a statement from the port.
   The CDP covers the development of the port’s Terminal 1 facility on the Columbia River, and includes plans for a hotel, public marketplace, commercial and retail space, public art and connection to Vancouver’s Renaissance Trail.
   The port expects the city’s review process, which includes an internal review as well as a 30-day public comment period, to be complete some time in 2017.
   Last month, the Port of Vancouver began soliciting a concession for companies interested in designing, building and operating a 40-acre marine facility to handle bulk minerals or automobiles on the southern portion of Terminal 5.
   Located on the Columbia River,106 miles from the Pacific Ocean and just east of Portland, Ore., the Port of Vancouver has 13 vessel berths, direct unit train service by four Class I railroads, and is in close proximity to north/south and east/west interstate highways.
