Computer crash disrupts Lufthansa Cargo flights    Failure of Lufthansa Cargo’s computer system today forced the German all-cargo airline to cancel intra-European flights and stop carrying “certain shipments to the United States or any dangerous goods consignments worldwide.”
   The computer problem has prevented Lufthansa Cargo from electronically preparing load sheets and manifests.
   “Since 33 intra-European flights have already had to be cancelled today, Lufthansa Cargo will therefore have to switch most of its cargo transports on passenger aircraft on intra-European routes to trucking services,” the airline said. “This will result in minor delays.”
   On intercontinental routes, only air cargo shipments carried aboard passenger aircraft have been affected by the computer problems up to now. Lufthansa Cargo freighter flights on intercontinental routes, however, have been operating as normal.
   Lufthansa Cargo said it called on all available reserve staff to minimize the disruption and inconvenience to its customers. The carrier will inform customers individually about any delays to shipments.
   “The situation is expected to return to normal in the course of the afternoon,” Lufthansa Cargo said.
