MITSUBISHI TO IMPLEMENT PLANNING AND EXECUTION SOFTWARE FROM GT NEXUS    The Japanese trading company Mitsubishi has entered into a contract with GT Nexus to acquire a private logistics network that will deploy the software company’s transportation planning and execution applications.
   The private network will serve as a platform enabling collaboration and integration of logistics operations across Mitsubishi's business units, partners and service providers.
   GT Nexus said the private network will enable Mitsubishi to:
   * Standardize the procurement, contracting and optimization of their global ocean freight;
   * Standardize their global ocean shipment execution processes, including scheduling, booking, documentation management and shipment tracking;
   * Connect their partners and service providers into a common, secure network, creating a single data repository from which it can manage global supply chain performance;
   * And improve data quality for Mitsubishi's internal management systems.
   “This is the first time we’ve put our planning and execution applications together in a private network for a dedicated customer,” a spokesman for GT Nexus said.
   Mitsubishi International Corp. and MC Trans International Inc. will be the first Mitsubishi companies to come onto the network.
   Koji Tamura, general manager for MC Trans International, said that the GT Nexus applications complement the company’s goals for business process improvement.
   John C. Urban, president of GT Nexus, said that, within its private network, Mitsubishi will be able to analyze actual event data about the execution of shipments and carrier performance, and compare that against established planning assumptions and service commitments.
