Denmark’s defense ministry picks Savi to build RFID system

DenmarkÆs defense ministry picks Savi to build RFID system    Denmark's Ministry of Defense has contracted with information technology firm Savi Technology to deploy a software platform linked with radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies to track and manage supply chain shipments in real time.
   Savi's package of applications for Denmark includes its Savi SmartChain Supply Network Operating System software platform, Savi Site Manager, fixed and mobile RFID readers, and active, data-fed RFID tags affixed to containers, pallets, and other transport conveyances.
   The network system will be installed at Danish Army depots in Hjorring and Broedeskov, at the Danish International Logistics Center at Vordingborg, and at supply locations in Afghanistan and Iraq. The full grid will be operational by January.
   Savi Technology, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., has provided RFID-driven networks for NATO's supply chain operations in Afghanistan, the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Defense.
