Damco to track Puma’s carbon footprint

Damco to track PumaÆs carbon footprint    Damco, the logistics arm of the A.P. Moller – Maersk shipping group, said it would help map the carbon footprint of Puma's supply chain from the point of foreign origin through delivery to distribution centers and stores in North America.
   The one-year study is part of the sportswear and apparel maker's five-year plan to reduce carbon, energy and water consumption by 25 percent by 2015.
   Damco said it would provide Puma a new automated reporting tool — the Supply Chain Dashboard — for monitoring its emissions. It will work with Puma to take corrective action when it identifies carbon 'hot spots' in the supply chain.
   Puma's aggressive sustainability initiative also includes plans to install solar panels on the roof of its Los Angeles distribution center, with the goal of making the facility completely self-sufficient for energy.
