NORFOLK SOUTHERN APPOINTS VPS FOR OPERATIONS, CUSTOMER SERVICE

NORFOLK SOUTHERN APPOINTS VPS FOR OPERATIONS, CUSTOMER SERVICE    Norfolk Southern Corp. has named Terry N. Evans vice president operations planning and budget, and Debbie H. Butler as vice president customer service.
   Evans, who will report to John M. Samuels, senior vice president of operations planning and support, joined Norfolk Southern in 1979 and was most recently general manager transportation, eastern region.
   Butler joined NS in 1978 and has held positions of increasing responsibility, serving most recently as vice president transportation customer services. She will oversee NS's national customer service center, centralized yard operations and rail car supply and management. She reports to Stephen C. Tobias, vice chairman and chief operating officer.
   Norfolk Southern, based in Norfolk, Va., is the holding company for Norfolk Southern Railway Co., which operates 21,500 miles of rail in the eastern United States.
