California shipper buys Ohio 3PL, takes new name Same-day shipping service provider Network Courier has acquired Ohio third-party logistics firm Commodity Logistics Inc. for an undisclosed sum.
   At the close of the deal, Los Angeles-based Network Courier and CLI, based in Lockbourne about 15 miles south of Columbus, said they would now operate as Network Global Logistics.
   NGL will maintain CLI’s supply chain service operations in Central Ohio, employing about 70 workers. The company’s shipping business and corporate headquarters will remain in Los Angeles.
   A spokesperson for the newly named firm told the Columbus Dispatch that CLI reported about $35 million in revenue for 2006, and Network Courier about $70 million. The combined company anticipates revenues of about $100 million in its first year of operations.
   According to the firm, NGL employs 450 workers at 192 facilities nationwide.
