The Newark Star-Ledger reports the drugs were seized in November, but that the bust was not reported until last week because of an ongoing investigation.
The paper said Customs officers became suspicious of the shipment because of its routing. The container was being moved from Guadalajara to El Paso on a ship that went to New Jersey by way of the Panama Canal. So they inspected the container and discovered 1,097 bricks of marijuana in a shipment of vases.
