DHL ramps up for e-commerce

   DHL Global Forwarding, a subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL, said it’s ramping up its services to meet new demands for multi-channel supply chain fulfillment and e-commerce.
   During the past 12 months, the company has experienced growth in its International Supply Chain (ISC) product in the Americas. Customers are increasingly looking for fulfillment options around e-commerce, mobiles, and direct-to-consumer sales, the company said.
   “Our customers have requested a partner that can harmonize all their order-fulfillment requirements on one operating platform,” said Ricardo Carrion, DHL Global Forwarding’s senior director of business development for ISC in Latin America.
   The company said these requests are coming largely from industries like retail, consumer goods, technology, and manufacturing. In specific, DHL Global Forwarding said its customers want expanded services at the origin, distribution, and warehousing levels. It said ISC offers a central hub for these services.
   Modules in ICS currently cover purchase order and supplier management, origin logistics services, transportation, system-wide visibility, supply chain consultancy options, and account management and development.
