Savi launches mobile tracking system

   Savi, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, has launched a mobile tracking system that identifies and tracks in real-time the location, movement, and condition of high-value assets.
   Savi said its new system is aimed at governments, heavy industry, large organizations, and manufacturers that have complex logistics requirements.
   The Savi Mobile Tracking System includes software and hardware designed to monitor a range of cargo, such as ocean containers on road and rail, dry and tanker railcars, fuel cargoes, and in-vehicle units, and support tracking technologies like GPS, GPRS, RFID and satellite communications.
   The system also provides other updates geared at improving transparency, noting travel times, and detecting and deterring theft.
   “Savi’s customers face some of the most challenging logistic and asset tracking requirements within the harshest environments,” said William Clark, President and CEO of Savi Technology. “Savi Mobile Tracking System represents a major step forward in providing organizations with real-time situational awareness that mirrors activities in the field.”
   Savi’s new system is also part of its alliance with SOCIÉTÉ Générale de Surveillance (SGS), supporting a new service from the company called SGS Omnis. SGS said Omnis is an extension of its existing cargo tracking operations and will be available to both enterprise and government customers.
