New World to cut transpacific capacity    New World Alliance members APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL said Tuesday they will “selectively” omit sailings on four transpacific services to reduce capacity during the slack season.
   The alliance lines will omit sailings on their SAX, PSW, PCX and PCE services, though the alliance didn’t specify which sailings would be omitted.
   According to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data:
   ' The seven-ship SAX service, operated solely with APL ships, has a rotation of Singapore, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Los Angeles, Kaohsiung, Chiwan, Yantian and Singapore. Average vessel capacity is 6,502 TEUs.
   ' The five-ship PSW, operated solely with Hyundai vessels, has a rotation of Kaohsiung, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Yantian, Busan, Los Angeles, Oakland, Busan and Kaohsiung. Average vessel capacity is 4,603 TEUs.
   ' The five-ship PCX, also operated solely with Hyundai vessels, has a rotation of Ningbo, Shanghai, Gwangyang, Busan, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, Busan, Gwangyang and Ningbo. Average vessel capacity is 6,770 TEUs.
   ' The six-ship PCE, operated solely with APL ships, has a rotation of Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Yokohama, Los Angeles, Oakland, Yokohama, Busan and Dalian. Average vessel capacity is 4,326 TEUs.
   The lines said they may adjust other joint services to “ensure complete port coverage.” The New World Alliance operates nine other transpacific loops — the PS1, PSX, SZX, APX, NYX, JAS (a joint service with the CKYH Alliance service to Japan), PS5, PNW and PS2. ' Eric Johnson
