DEL MONTE SELECTS i2 SOFTWARE FOR TRANSPORT PROCUREMENT    Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. Inc. has contracted with i2 Technologies Inc. for software to support both logistics cost and profit-center operations.
   Fresh Del Monte will use i2’s suite of transportation applications to collaborate more closely with its carriers and customers. Under terms of the agreement, i2’s solutions will handle procurement, modeling, strategic analysis, planning, and execution of logistics services.
   “Speed is of the essence when distributing produce at the peak of freshness,” said Sergio Mancilla, senior vice president, shipping operations, for Fresh Del Monte. He added that i2’s solutions would provide the needed velocity and cost savings to keep consumer prices down.
   Del Monte Fresh is a subsidiary of Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc., which markets fruits and vegetables.
   i2 Technologies is based in Dallas.
