U.S. aid agency promotes transportation infrastructure in Mexico    The U.S. Trade and Development Agency last week awarded two grants to the government of Mexico to improve that nation's transportation system.
   Mexico's national airport operator, Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares, received $450,000 to pay for a study on developing a cargo hub at Ciudad Obregon International Airport in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. The proposed air cargo terminal will increase air cargo capacity at the airport and is expected to increase economic development and trade in the region.    USTR awarded $431,000 to the Mexican Secretariat of Communications and Transportation to help develop a plan for intelligent transportation systems. Intelligent transportation is the strategy of improving travel safety and efficiency by using systems of computers, communications and sensor technology to manage transportation information.
   USTR funds technical assistance, feasibility studies and training to support development of modern infrastructure that will improve a country's ability to engage in international commerce.
