Certification program on terrorism prevention in transport industries

Certification program on terrorism prevention in transport industries    Annapolis, Md.-based National Cargo Security Council, an association of cargo transportation and security professionals, said Tuesday it has expanded its certification program, after a year of planning, to include training for supply-chain security officials on the threats of terrorism to business.
   Completion of the training program will vary depending on the participant’s level of experience and commitment, ranging from one year to six years. Participants become “certified supply chain protection professionals.” The council that the core competencies will include: business processes, federal regulations, management, IT, investigation, technology, quality assurance and emergency response, each tailored to a specific transportation mode.
   The initiative was announced by David Jones, corporate vice president of security and loss prevention with Tommy Hilfiger, USA Inc., who is also the chairman of the National Cargo Security Council.
