Oracle: New solution to break silos between supply chain and project management

Oracle’s Project-Drive Supply Chain attempts to link product lifecycle events like material planning and execution.    Oracle on Wednesday said it has released a solution that integrates its supply chain planning and project-management suites.
   Oracle’s Project-Driven Supply Chain attempts to break down traditional silos between supply chain and project managers by linking its Oracle Value Chain Planning and Project Portfolio Management solutions.
   “This is especially true for project supply chains, where project managers often do not have access to modern supply-chain management tools,” Oracle said.
   The new linked solution is aimed at allowing project managers and material planners to enhance collaboration, material planning, decision-making, and execution throughout the project life cycle.
   “Functional silos and communication gaps between project management and supply chain planning can increase project risk, create material shortages, result in contract penalties, and have a significant impact on the top and bottom line of projects,” said Roger Goossens, vice president, value chain planning applications development at Oracle.
