American Shipper provides readers a weekly roundup of the carrier industry’s published general rate increases and surcharges.    Here is American Shipper’s weekly roundup of the carrier industry’s published general rate increases:

COSCO.   Rates will increase on all shipments from the Far East and Indian Subcontinent to Panama, Venezuela, Columbia, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Cuba trade by $700 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU and 40-foot, high-cube containers on Dec. 15.
 
Hapag-Lloyd.   Rates will increase on dry commodities from Canada and the United States to East Asia, Indian subcontinent and the Middle East by $80 per TEU and $100 per FEU on Jan. 15. East Asia is defined as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Macao, Vietnam, Laos Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, and the Russian Pacific ports of Vladivostok and Vostochniy. The Indian subcontinent is defined as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Lastly, the Middle East is defined as Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and the Red Sea Ports of Egypt and Saudi Arabia. 
   On all cargo and container types from the Far East westbound East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe and the Mediterranean, rates will increase $800 per TEU on Dec. 15. North Europe is defined as the northwest continent, the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Baltic and European ports of Russia. The Mediterranean comprises the West and East Mediterranean, the Black Sea and North Africa. East Asia remains defined as first described.

MOL.   Rates will increase on all cargo and equipment types moving from European ports to New York and all ports via New York by $300 per TEU on Jan. 1. 

Maersk.   A general rate increase and peak season surcharge (PSS) will be applied to all cargo from Far East Asia to the United States, Canada and the Virgin Islands on Jan. 15. Rates will increase $540 per TEU; $600 per FEU, $675 per 40-foot, high-cube dry and reefer containers, and $760 per 45-foot, high-cube containers. The PSS will increase rates $360 per TEU, $400 per FEU, $450 per 40-foot, high-cube dry and reefer containers; and $510 per 45-foot containers. The Far East Asia is defined as Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam, and the Russian ports Fish Port Terminal, Kholmsk, Korsakov, Magadan, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vanino, Vladivostok and Vostochniy.
   Tariff rates will increase on all refrigerated cargo from the U.S. East and West coasts to Far East Asia on Jan. 4 by $300 per reefer unit for the West Coast ports of Anchorage, Dutch Harbor, Honolulu, Houston, Long Beach, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Oakland, Seattle, Washington; and $500 per reefer units from East Coast ports Miami, Mobile, Newark, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Savannah, and Charleston. 

OOCL.   A Thailand terminal handling surcharge of 4,400 per TEU and 6,800 per FEU will be applied to all dry cargo at Thai Baht based on the receiving date on or after Jan. 9. 

CMA CGM.   Rates will increase on all cargo from Asia to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West India by $100 per TEU and $100 per FEU for Dec. 15-31. 

Eimskip.   A low-sulfur fuel surcharge will be applied to cargo on Jan. 1 due to new international rules concerning sulfur emission from 2015.
