DB Logistics restructuring management, brands German state-owned rail operator and logistics giant Deutsche Bahn is restructuring the management and brand profile of DB Logistics, its transportation and logistics division.
   Effective Feb. 1, the new structure will see production and sales in the field of rail freight transport converging under the Railion brand. Combined Transport will become an independent business unit under the brand name Intermodal, focusing on seaport to hinterland operations and on the main axes of continental transport. The land transport, air and sea freight and contract logistics-supply chain management business units will operate under the Schenker brand.
   'Both steps are required if we are to establish DB Logistics as one of the leading providers of transport and logistics services worldwide,' said Norbert Bensel, chairman of DB Logistics. 'We must stay even more closely in touch with our customers, and improve the networking of our services and activities in all areas of transport. This is only possible if we transfer more operational responsibility to the business units.'
   'Schenker will of course be retaining its integrated market presentation, especially at the national and regional level,' Bensel added, 'so that the customer will still be relating to a single contact person for access to the entire range of services offered by the Schenker organization.'
   The cross-functional business of DB Logistics and its five individual business units will be jointly managed by the division board, which comprises:
   * Bensel, chairman.
   * Hans-J'rg Hager, land transport, Schenker.
   * Sebastian J'rgens, intermodal.
   * Klaus Kremper, rail freight, Railion.
   * Thomas Lieb, air and sea freight, Schenker.
   * Matthias Reichel, chief financial officer.
   * Peter Schumann, chief information officer.
   * Detlef Trefzger, contract logistics/SCM.
   * Steffen W. Wurst, human resources.
