Anderson to leave FMC on May 30 President Bush's nominee for chairman of the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission abruptly announced his departure from the agency, effective May 30.

   A. Paul Anderson, who was first appointed to the commission in August 2003, was nominated by the White House to serve as FMC chairman last August, but the nomination has since been stalled in the Senate.
   In a statement, Anderson said that after he leaves office he plans to continue serving the U.S. maritime sector and resume his commitment to various non-profit organizations in which he worked prior to joining the FMC.
   Prior to his appointment at the FMC, Anderson served with Hvide Marine, now known as Seacor Holdings. He also worked for JM Family Enterprises, a Florida-based automobile company.
