FIU starting anti-money laundering program

FIU starting anti-money laundering program Florida International University, in partnership with the Florida International Bankers Association (FIBA), is starting an anti-money laundering certification program that would allow banking institutions in the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean to obtain training and certification through online testing.
   Miami-based FIU said its College of Business Administration would introduce the FIU-FIBA Senior Compliance Officer Certification Program by late spring.
   FIBA is one of the world's leading authorities on mitigating banking risks related to money laundering, and has been recognized by banking regulators and law enforcement authorities for its expertise in anti-money laundering compliance.
   FIU said it is the first accredited university in the United States that is validating an anti-money laundering compliance certificate.
   FIBA will provide the instructor and course materials, while FIU will provide a facility for the program. FIU and FIBA said they are still working on the logistics of online testing for participants, as well as the certification for anyone completing the program requirements.
