Freight rate roundup: Maersk, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd have issued freight rate increases.    Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd have announced freight rate increases.
   Maersk Line is increasing “Freight All Kinds” FAK rates from:
   • Southeast Asia and Japan to Australia, effective Oct. 1 until further notice, but not beyond Oct. 31.
   • Northeast Asia to Australia, effective Oct. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Oct. 31.
   • Asia to the East Coast of South America effective Oct. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Oct. 31.
   CMA CGM of France announced a general rate restoration from Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to West Africa for all cargo (including dry, reefer, OOG and breakbulk) effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd will implement general rate increases from:
     • East Asia to the U.S. and Canada for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $1,080 per 20-foot standard container; and $1,200 per 40-foot standard container and 40-foot high cube container; and $1,520 per 45-foot container.
     • The Indian Subcontinent and Middle East to the United States and Canada effective Oct. 15. Rates will increase by $960 per 20-foot standard container; and $1,200 per 40-foot standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
     • East Asia to the United States and Canada for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $450 per 20-foot standard container; $500 per 40-foot standard container and 40-foot high cube container; and $632 per 45-foot container.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America, Panama, Gulf of Mexico and Progreso for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU.
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU.
     • North Europe to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by 150 euros per 20-foot standard container, 200 euros per 40-foot reefer/high cube reefer container, and 250 euros per 40-foot standard/ high cube container.
     • The Mediterranean to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Nov. 1. Rates will increase by 150 euros per 20-foot reefer/high cube reefer container, 275 euros per 20-foot standard container, 300 euros per 40-foot reefer/high cube reefer container, and 550 euros per 40-foot standard/high cube container.
