Grays Harbor, Pasha study auto terminal

Grays Harbor, Pasha study auto terminal Logistics and transportation firm Pasha Group has entered into a year-long marketing agreement with the Washington state Port of Grays Harbor to study the feasibility of creating a large-scale automobile import processing facility at the port.
   The firm, which last week brought 3,200 new Kia automobiles through the port, said it is very interested in the Grays Harbor port as an import facility location.
   'The Pasha Group believes that Grays Harbor is uniquely and strategically positioned to be a major automotive processing and distribution facility long into the future,' Stan Gabara, Pasha vice president of automotive, told the port's governing board this week.
   Corte Madera, Calif.-based Pasha plans to bring in several more large shipments of automobiles through the port during the year-long feasibility study period.
   Gabara also told port commissioners that a Grays Harbor automobile facility might include body and repair shops, car washing stations, support facilities, and warehouse storage.
   'You can smell it,' Gabara said. 'This is a great automotive location.'
   The marketing agreement prohibits port officials from seeking other potential tenants at the port's Terminal 4 location now being eyed by Pasha. The deal also gives Pasha the first right of refusal if another tenant approaches the port regarding the property during the year-long period.
