UPS names China expert to board

UPS names China expert to board    UPS' board of directors on Thursday named Clark 'Sandy' T. Randt Jr., as a company director effective immediately.
   Randt is considered one of America's foremost authorities on China, the company said in a statement.
   Hong Kong-based Randt 'is a diplomat, attorney and businessman with more than 30 years of direct experience in Asia,' UPS said. 'He served for more than seven years as America's ambassador to the People's Republic of China under the administration of President George W. Bush and currently is the president of Randt & Co. LLC, which advises firms with interests in China.'
   Randt is also a former governor and first vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and spent eight years as a partner resident in the Hong Kong office of the law firm Shearman & Sterling.
   He will serve as an appointed member of the UPS board until next May, when he is expected to stand for election to a regular one-year term at the annual shareowners' meeting.
