IAG Cargo expands in Germany

The airfreight carrier says it will increase cargo capacity in Germany by 18%.    IAG Cargo is expanding in Germany, increasing its cargo capacity 18 percent compared to the first week of June 2014. According to a statement from the company, the added capacity “provides a major boost to IAG Cargo’s pioneering EuroConnector service and delivers customers with a greater array of options for shipping goods into, around and out of Europe.”
   IAG will introduce additional capacity from Düsseldorf, Hannover, Stuttgart, Berlin Tegel, Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg into Barcelona. Cargo will be carried on narrow-body Vueling aircraft.
   With the exception of flights from Munich and Frankfurt, which will start later this year, IAG’s new cargo flights will be operational by the end of May. IAG said its customers will have access to 47 additional direct flights from Barcelona into key European cities, including Madrid, from which they can also connect to Latin American destinations.
   “This significant enhancement to our short-haul capacity out of Germany will provide customers with new options for intra-European trade and by connecting through our Madrid and London hubs, for international trade,” said Chris Nielen, IAG Cargo’s regional commercial manager in Europe.
