Fuel concerns force Cathay Pacific reshuffle Cathay Pacific said Monday it will realign routes and aircraft in response to high fuel prices without affecting total capacity.
   The Hong Kong-based airline said it will cut 10 flights to North America, but add eight flights to Australia to meet consistently high demand and upgrade to bigger aircraft for 14 European frequencies.
   It is the second time this summer that Cathay has opted to redeploy aircraft to routes with greater revenue potential. In July, it said it will add four flights a week to Dubai and Bahrain, while reducing Toronto services by three a week and Vancouver, Canada, by four per week. In addition, New Zealand will go back to a twice-daily service in the winter and the Hong Kong to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia route will become direct.
   The airline said the additional reshuffling of aircraft was prompted by a loss of HK$663 million in its interim results last week.
   The new moves reduce service to Los Angeles and Vancouver.
