According to the Associated Press, the 14,000-ton capacity vessel, named The Dijlah, was inaugurated at the Iraqi port of Basra on Monday. Iraq’s tanker fleet was essentially wiped out by the Iran-Iraq war from 1980 to 1988 and during the first Gulf War in the early 1990s.
The Iraqi Oil Tanker Co. will receive the next two vessels within three months, AP reported.
