At EDR, Bingham manages the economic impact studies, forecasts, financial feasibility and costs associated with transportation policy changes and infrastructure projects for public agencies, trade associations and private companies.
He has more than 30 years of experience with consulting firms providing economic analysis around freight transportation and international trade.
Bingham previously spent several months as North American consulting director for Hackett Associates, which conducts the monthly Global Port Tracker report for the National Retail Federation.
He also spent 4.5 years as economics practice leader for CDM Smith, a large engineering planning firm, and prior to that he was managing director for global commerce and transportation at economic forecasting firm IHS Global Insight.
Much of Bingham’s work for clients has revolved around transportation markets, commodity sourcing, supply chain and logistics practices, international competitiveness, and transportation infrastructure. He has managed freight flow analysis for private carriers as well as for public sector planning projects at the international, national, state and metropolitan levels.
EDR said Bingham’s addition will enable the company to expand its analytical services into maritime trade, port development and global trade. He will also play an important role in development of EDR’s suite of commercially available analytical tools, including TREDIS (the Transportation Economic Development Impact System) and the recently introduced vFreight commodity flow mapping system. EDR said it will be adding even more detail on domestic flows of traded commodities and international trade data to its existing product lines.
Bingham has served on numerous Transportation Research Board committees and projects, and is a member of the U.S. Commerce Department’s advisory committee on supply chain competitiveness.
