Descartes sees fiscal year profits rise

Global trade and logistics software provider said its non-U.S. businesses felt the effect of a strong dollar, but still delivered record profits and revenue.    The global trade and transportation software provider Descartes Systems Group said operating profits in the fiscal year ending Jan. 31 rose 17 percent year-over-year, to $52 million.
   The company’s revenue in the fiscal year rose 13 percent, to $170.9 million, while net income rose 57 percent, to $15.1 million.
   Operating profit in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year rose in line with the full year – a 17 percent increase, to $13.9 million. Revenue in the fourth quarter rose 10 percent to $44.3 million.
   “We’re pleased that we’ve once again delivered another quarter, and year, of record revenues and record operating performance, despite continued foreign exchange pressures on our non-US revenues,” said Edward J. Ryan, Descartes’ Chief Executive Officer. “Our focus on growing our business through disciplined operations and complementary acquisitions continues to deliver consistent, predictable financial results.”
