Miami perishables road show firming up

Miami perishables road show firming up Plans for a one-day 'Perishables Road Show' to the Dominican Republic by a group of Miami-based perishable shipping experts are firming up, with details on the agenda, registration and hotel accommodations available.
   Miami-Dade Aviation Department cargo specialist Bunny Schreiber said the program will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 28 in Santo Domingo.
   Expected speakers are: Schreiber; Ted Ogdahl, director of import operations for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in Miami; Joe Novitski, from UPS Supply Chain Logistics; Jorge Rodriguez, PPQ (plant protection and quarantine) supervisor for the FDA in Miami; Jaime Silva, vice president-business development for Florida West Airlines; Pete Mayea, chief of agriculture air cargo with Customs and Border Protection in Miami; and Bryan Picado, CBP Customer-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism.
   Cost for the program is $32, and rooms at the Hotel Dominican Fiesta run from $58 for a single room to $210 for a suite.
   Schreiber said the ad hoc group is still seeking $300 sponsorships for the two coffee breaks and a sponsor or sponsors for the $1,000 networking session at the end of the program.
