Ariba will provide software for Transplace.com’s infrastructure. IBM Global Services will assist with consulting, Web hosting, and systems integration, said Dr. Jun-Sheng Li, chief executive officer of Transplace.com.
Three-month-old Transplace.com said it comprised 1,500 truck carriers representing 220,000 tractors and 800,000 truck trailers.
The consortium’s partners are the transportation logistics business units of J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc.; Swift Transportation Co. Inc.; U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc.; Covenant Transport Inc.; M.S. Carriers Inc., and Werner Enterprises Inc.
