MTC building distribution center at Port of Mobile

Blast freezing, port drayage and LTL consolidation are among the services that will be offered.
MTC Logistics has purchased property adjacent to the Alabama State Port Authority container terminal at the Port of Mobile to build what it described as a state-of-the-art international temperature-controlled distribution center focused on import and export cargo.
In the first phase of the project, MTC will invest about $60 million and employ 50 to 70 associates at the new facility.
“Our goal is to provide our customers with seamless supply chain solutions focused on global commerce,” said Ernie Ferguson, vice president of sales for MTC Logistics. “This strategic location on the U.S. Gulf Coast will allow us to expand our service offering, and we will have a significant focus on import cargo to help balance refrigerated container supply in Mobile.”
MTC said the facility will be more than 12 million cubic feet in size, with about 40,000 racked pallet positions.
   F. Brooks Royster III, president of MTC Logistics, said, “We will offer a comprehensive suite of services including blast freezing, port drayage and LTL consolidation. We have been in the temperature-controlled logistics business for 90 years and are thrilled Mobile will be a part of our future.”
