Qatar Airways joins Cargo 2000    Qatar Airways has joined Cargo 2000, an initiative to cut the number of processes involved in air freight shipments and moving to a more paperless environment.
   The initiative has more than 60 participants, including airlines, forwarders, ground handlers, trucking companies and information technology companies.
   Qatar joins other Middle East-based airlines Egyptair, Etihad and Saudi Arabian Airlines as Cargo 2000 members. There are 28 airlines in all signed on to the initiative.
   Qatar Airways Cargo serves 87 destinations worldwide with Airbus A300-600 freighters and 68 Qatar Airways passenger aircraft, increasing to 120 destinations and 110 aircraft in the next four years. The airline has grown 40 percent a year for the past 12 years.
   'The airline has also listened to its key freight forwarder customers who are members of Cargo 2000 and they have encouraged Qatar Airways to join,' said Lothar Moehle, Cargo 2000's regional director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
