Maersk joins ocean sustainability alliance    The A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, parent company of liner carrier Maersk Line, said Wednesday it has joined the World Ocean Council, a U.S.-based alliance focused on ocean sustainability and stewardship.
   Council members span a range of sectors, and include the International Chamber of Shipping, Exxon-Mobil, leading mining company Rio Tinto, as well as several academic institutions.
   'Through its signatory to the World Ocean Council, Maersk supports the efforts to promote sustainable development and stewardship through collaboration across private sector industries,' the company said in a statement. 'The World Ocean Council is the only international organization bringing together a broad range of ocean industries to address sustainable use of the seas.'
