John Speakman has been named president of Contship Containerlines Inc.,
the U.S. branch of Contship Containerlines Ltd.
Speakman will be based at Contship’s U.S. headquarters in Virginia
Beach, Va., and will report to David Halliday, chief executive officer of
Contship Containerlines Ltd.
Speakman was vice president-national accounts with Wallenius Wilhelmsen
(USA). He was vice president and general manager of Wilhelmsen Lines (USA) from 1998 until
Wilhelmsen and Wallenius merged in July 1999. A 31-year veteran of the maritime industry,
he previously worked for Barber Blue Sea and Ocean Transport & Trading.
Speakman replaces Doug Tipton who left the company to take an assignment with
the ports industry.
Contship is part of CP Ships, the container shipping arm of Canadian
Pacific Ltd.
