Blue Tree lands on more Windows devices

   Blue Tree Systems, a provider of trailer tracking, refrigerated monitoring and fleet management applications, has expanded its R:Com fleet management software to support any Windows CE and Windows Mobile device.
   “This new capability means carriers already using any device operating on the Windows CE & Mobile platform can seamlessly install our R:COM fleet management system without undergoing expensive and lengthy hardware changes,” said Charlie Cahill, Blue Tree’s chief executive officer, in a statement.
   The company said that by adding its R:COM tool with a POD or other enterprise application for handheld devices, fleets are able to save significantly on hardware investments while simplifying much of their maintenance and support.
   Cahill pointed to the company’s Hours-of-Service (HOS) Advisor tool which is among the first of the industry HOS tools designed for the driver to help aid with time optimization throughout the workday.
   R:COM also provides vehicle tracking, pre- and post-trip vehicle checks, route management, and turn-by-turn navigation. Drivers can also receive communications, job details, and planning information in the platform, which it updates as a job progresses.
