CMA CGM launches new Europe-West Africa service

The new WAZZAN loop will complement its existing EURAF loops, calling Mauritania and Senegal directly from Spain and Morocco and serving Mali via intermodal connections in Dakar.    French ocean carrier CMA CGM will launch a new service between Mediterranean and West Africa early this month. The carrier said in a statement the new WAZZAN loop will complement its existing EURAF loops, calling Mauritania and Senegal directly from Spain and Morocco and serving Mali via intermodal connections in Dakar.
   CMA CGM will operate the new loop with three vessels with an average capacity of 1,100 TEUs on a port rotation of Casablanca, Algeciras, Tangiers, Nouakchott, Dakar, Nouadhibou, Las Palmas, and Casablanca.
   The WAZZAN will commence June 6 with the sailing of the Delmas Swala from Algeciras, Spain.
    According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, CMA CGM currently participates on eight other dedicated services between Europe, the Mediterranean and West Africa. The carrier provides vessels four of its joint Europe Afrique loops with subsidiary line Delmas – EURAF1, EURAF3, EURAF4 and EURAF5 – and purchases slots on the joint MOL and Hapag-Lloyd ARN/WAX service, which CMA CGM calls EURAF2.
   CMA CGM also takes slots on two Boluda Lines services – its Mediterraneo 1 and Africa/Canarias strings – as well as the joint West Africa Service (WAS), operated by Arkas Line, Marguisa and ZIM.
