The company said the FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery full average rate increase of 5.9 percent will be partially offset by adjusting the fuel price threshold at which the fuel surcharge begins, reducing the fuel surcharge by one percentage point. FedEx SmartPost rates also will change.
FedEx previously announced in September that it will increase shipping rates for FedEx Express by a net average of 3.9 percent for U.S. domestic, U.S. export and U.S. import services also effective Jan. 2, 2012.
FedEx Freight implemented a 6.75 percent general rate increase on Sept. 6, 2011.
