November cargo gains for Continental, United

November cargo gains for Continental, United Continental Airlines and United Airlines both posted modest cargo gains in November.
   Houston-based Continental flew 93.1 million cargo revenue ton-miles during the month, a 1.7 percent increase compared to 91.5 million cargo revenue ton-miles in November 2006.
   Chicago’s United reported a 3.8 percent increase for the month at 182.7 million system cargo ton-miles helped by a 26.8 percent gain in mail shipments to 23.9 million cargo ton-miles. United’s monthly freight increased 0.9 percent to 158.8 million cargo ton-miles.
   Both airlines' cargo volumes were down for the year. After 11 months, Continental transported 945.7 million cargo revenue ton-miles, off 3.7 percent, while United’s system cargo ton-miles were down 2.2 percent to 1.84 billion.
