P&O NEDLLOYD, CP SHIPS, MOL, HAMBURG SUD SIGN FOR C-TPAT PROGRAM

P&O NEDLLOYD, CP SHIPS, MOL, HAMBURG SUD SIGN FOR C-TPAT PROGRAM    P&O Nedlloyd, CP Ships, MOL and Hamburg Sud are the latest carrier groups to have announced that they have applied to join the U.S. Customs’ Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program.
   P&O Nedlloyd, and its subsidiary, Farrell Lines filed on July 15 the enrollment documents for entry into the program.
   Michael J.S. Seymour, president and chief executive officer, P&O Nedlloyd, North America, will guide the carrier’s global security initiative. Alan T. Hicks, the company’s North American director of business development, will be tasked with the day-to-day coordination of the security effort.
   CP Ships has also signed to join the program, chief executive officer Ray Miles said.    CP Ships is the parent company of ANZDL, Canada Maritime, Cast, Contship Containerlines, Lykes Lines and TMM Lines, and is in the process of completing the takeover of Italia.
   MOL also volunteered to enroll in the Customs/industry program.
   Hamburg Sud announced that its subsidiaries, Alianca, Columbus Line and Crowley American Transport are enrolling in the C-TPAT program.
   As part of the enrollment process, the lines will provide Customs with an overview of their overall security programs and will work closely with the agency and other organizations involved in assuring the security of the transport pipeline, Hamburg Sud said.
