Alianca adds two ships to South America coastal link    Brazilian-flag carrier Alianca Navegacao e Logistica Ltda. is adding two ships to its coastal service connecting Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Peru and Chile.
   The two new ships joining the “Andes” service are the 1,016-TEU “Alianca Atlantico” and the 1,139-TEU “Alianca Pacifico”.
   The fortnightly “Andes” service started in April. The additional ships will see the service split into two fortnightly loops and see new calls at Callao, Antofagasta, Bahia Blanca, Mar Del Plata and Ilo.
   The “Andes Loop 1” will call Santos, Montevideo, Valparaiso, Lirquen, Ushuaia, Bahia Blanca, Mar Del Plata, Paranagua and back to Santos.
   The “Andes Loop 2” will have a port rotation of Montevideo, Valparaiso, Callao, Ilo (monthly), Antofagasta (monthly), Puerto Deseado, Puerto Madryn and back to Montevideo.
   Alianca is a subsidiary of the German shipping group Hamburg Sud. “The service will also enhance feeder links to main-route services of Hamburg Sud to and from South America and South Africa, Asia, East Coast North America, and Europe,” said Alianca’s managing director, Julian Thomas.
