COSCO Pacific February volume up 27%

COSCO Pacific February volume up 27%    Terminal operator COSCO Pacific said Monday February container throughput rose 27 percent at the 20 terminals in which it has a stake.
   The company handled 3.2 million TEUs collectively at its 16 Chinese and four international terminals.
   There were significant gains at COSCO's terminal in Nansha (98.5 percent growth to 185,000 TEUs), Dalian (73.2 percent growth to 127,000 TEUs) and Ningbo (63.7 percent growth to 112,000 TEUs).
   Perhaps more important were solid gains at some of the biggest ports in Asia where COSCO operates, terminals in Yantian, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. Volume at its Yantian terminal rose 36 percent to 648,000 TEUs, while its Hong Kong terminal rose 16 percent to 100,000 TEUs. Shanghai terminal volume rose 13.7 percent to 424,000 TEUs. A terminal in Singapore in which it owns a stake rose 89 percent to 85,000 TEUs. Qingdao, its single-busiest terminal, rose 9 percent to 748,000 TEUs.
   For the year, COSCO's volume is up 23 percent, to 7.1 million TEUs.
