DHL starts Mumbai/Durban LCL service

DHL starts Mumbai/Durban LCL service    DHL said it is starting a direct less-than-containerload service from Nhava Sheva, Mumbai, in India to Durban, South Africa.
   Nhava Sheva is India’s busiest container port and Durban is the busiest in South Africa.
   The company’s forwarding division said it aims to take advantage of growing trade between the two emerging economies, with two-way trade rising nearly four-fold in the last five years, from $9.9 billion in 2004-05 to $39 billion in 2008-09. The company has set up a dedicated India desk in 10 African countries in the past year to foster business.
   DHL Global Forwarding said it has also recently appointed Joseph Oguta as head of LCL for Africa, based in Kenya.
   The new LCL service will be operated by Danmar Lines, DHL’s in-house non-vessel-operating common carrier. It follows a similar LCL service DHL started in July between Nhava Sheva and Los Angeles.
