ECT ups stake in Duisburger trimodal terminal    Europe Container Terminals, part of the Hutchison Port Holdings Group, has raised its stake in German trimodal inland terminal Duisburger Container Terminal (DeCeTe), from 27 percent to a majority 51.56 percent share.
   No financial details were disclosed although ECT said the shares were transferred Friday with the support of the other shareholders.
   The 15.6-hectare DeCeTe is located on the river Rhine in Germany’s Ruhr valley region. The terminal has its own rail connection and has four wide-span gantry cranes to aid the transshipment of containers from inland ships, short-sea ships, trains and trucks.
   DeCeTe also provides warehousing and storing facilities, amongst other value-added services. The adjacent DUSS rail terminal offers rail connections to 60 destinations throughout Europe.
   “DeCeTe fits perfectly into ECT’s strategy of strengthening the connections between hinterland container flows and the sea terminals in Rotterdam,” said Jan Westerhoud, ECT’s president. He added that DeCeTe is linked daily to ECT’s three terminals at the port of Rotterdam by a barge shuttle taking approximately 16 hours and a three-hour train shuttle service.
