Miami International opens eight-lane security checkpoint

Miami International opens eight-lane security checkpoint Members of the South Florida international trade community who feel like Miami International Airport is their home away from home will be glad to learn the airport opened a new, eight-lane security checkpoint at Concourse E Wednesday morning that is expected to speed and streamline the screening process.
   The reconfiguration consolidates two former checkpoints and will allow airlines at the outlying Concourse A to relocate to the central terminal. Concourse E is dead center of the central terminal.
   The change is also good in another sense for Miami-Dade Aviation Department, which said it will complete the north terminal project quicker than if the airlines where still using Concourse A. That change and the faster construction pace will save the MDAD an estimated $200 million, officials said.
