Xata, ALK offer integrated truck platform

   Xata Corp., a provider of fleet optimization software, and ALK Technologies, which operates geo-logistics and navigation software, have joined forces to start the new CoPilot Truck 8 Professional integrated with XataNet, providing users with enhanced routing information available on a range of hardware.
   The on-board navigation service calculates optimal, truck-specific routes without using mobile communications or off-board systems. The companies say this will help deliver the most reliable routes quickly and have integrated installed highway and street-level digital maps.
   Voice-guided turn-by-turn directions are automatically generated with optimal routes and they can change instantly if a driver misses a turn or reaches a detour.
   XataNet provides real-time information on the vehicle and driver performance, sending it to the driver, fleet managers, and dispatch for functions like safety and compliance.
