NUTRITION FOR LIFE FINED $72,000 FOR AIR-CARGO HAZMAT VIOLATION    The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has issued a civil penalty of    $72,000 against Nutrition for Life International Inc. in Houston for    allegedly violating the Transportation Department’s hazardous materials    regulations.
   The FAA said that Nutrition for Life improperly offered a fiberboard box    containing two one-pint plastic bottles of its products to UPS, which    contained denatured alcohol, a flammable liquid. UPS ground handling    employees in Louisville, Ky., discovered the shipment leaking.
   The FAA said the shipment was neither packaged properly or declared as    specified in the DOT’s hazmat regulations. The agency also said that    Nutrition for Life also failed to train its employees with how to handle    hazardous shipments.
   Nutrition for Life has the next 30 days from receipt of the FAA notice to    submit a reply to the agency.
